What the handbook leaves out
- Pass rule ambiguous within handbook: p11 says 'Candidates will receive an overall score. If you fail the overall exam, you must retake the entire test.' (combined), but p4 says 'Candidates who fail one or both parts of the examination must retake the entire examination' and p11 says 'Once both parts of the exam are passed' (implies per-part pass). Also p11 score report gives 'diagnostic information relating to the general section and the state section'. Recorded combined per the explicit scoring sentence; “pass each portion” cannot be excluded.
- Pretest: table p11 says '10-15 pretest items' for the whole exam; outlines say 5 (national) + 5-10 (state) = 10-15, consistent.
- Reciprocal (out-of-state licensee) exams: state portion only, 40 items, 1 hr, 5-10 pretest (p11).
